How to Find the Right Foundation and Bronzers For Your Skin

How to Find the Right Foundation and Bronzers For Your Skin
by Kimberly Jenkins

Every woman wants to have flawless skin, but lets face it, even Halle and Tyra need some help. So let's start with the basics on how to match your skin to the Foundation/Bronzer that is right for you!

FOUNDATION is built on "foundation" so start with a shop, drugstore or department store that sells makeup. NEVER order online unless you are replenishing a shade you already have. When in store use the SAMPLES. It is not only unsanitary to use the TESTERS, but in most places its the LAW :-)

When testing foundation, NEVER test on your wrist, for your face and wrist are TWO different colors and then you will be right back to if you made your purchases online.

To test use your chin/neck/chest area. This area allows you the ability to blend your face, neck and chest and creates a seamless, natural appearance.

One time saving tool is to pick just the color you think you might be, one slightly lighter, and one slightly darker. The TRIPLE THREAT effect is a great rule and remember the names to save you time on your follow up purchase.

Take in to consideration the following when shopping for your ideal shade:

Lighting: false lighting can dramatically change the appearance of the color, if unsure go outside or ask a friend or fellow shopper for their opinion.

If still unsure go for the LIGHTER color. NEVER go DARKER it's obvious and you can always add BRONZER for a tanned glow.

Consider your skin type: Before you pick the right shade you must pick the right formula for your skin. (i.e. dry, combination, oily) Some brands that cater to all skin tones and types are:

MAC
Loreal Professional (True Match)
Mary Kay
Cover Girl (Queen Collection)

Always try new foundation on with a clean face. Moisturizer! Wearing eye makeup and lipstick are fine, but NO FOUNDATION.

Once you make your purchase take it home and try it out. If you don't like it you can return it. If you're buying from a drugstore, purchase from one with a liberal return policy.

Last but not least, have fun with it ladies! You will know what is right for you when you find it and don't forget to remember the brand and shade so you don't have to start all over again!
